Compass is holding its second ‘Change: How? Festival of Ideas’ in London on Sunday 8 February – a day-long event billed with the slogan: ‘100 extraordinary people; 100 possible futures; 100 days before a nation decides’.
The first Compass Change: How? event was held in 2013 and the 2015 edition promises to be “a day full of ideas and inspiration, of building new networks, new friendships and new ways of changing the world”.
“Six months before a general election it’s clear is that we need really big change, we need real democracy in politics, in the economy, and in our society,” said a statement from Compass national coordinator Jacqui Howard.
“So we’ve created this day and this space. It’s a day by and for you, so if you want to contribute as a speaker, go to the website and submit your idea or action for making change happen. Or if you know someone inspiring whose story you think we all should hear, please suggest them.
“Come open to be challenged, to take action, to listen and discuss, and to find new ways to occupy our future together. And of course to have some fun.”
The conference will be held at Islington Metal Works, a venue close to Angel Underground station which claims to be Europe’s oldest alternative club. Doors open at 11am for registrations with the event due to start at noon and finish at 6pm.
The list of speakers is yet to be announced but Compass claim they will include “some of Britain’s finest minds from across the worlds of politics, the arts, the media and activism”.
