A one-day conference to explore the impact of the Russian Revolutions of 1917 on the British Labour and peace movements will be held at the Working Class Movement Library on Saturday 4 November.
Presented by the Library and the Peace History Conference, the day will include a mix of lectures, films and readings “to illuminate the lessons that we can use in our ongoing activism to make the future world more peaceful”.
The events will start with a guided walk around the Manchester Peace Trail on Friday 3 November, and continue on Saturday with a day of talks and activities, including: ‘The Bolshevik Revolution at the British Left’ by Professor John Callaghan; ‘Crusading Women in the North West’ by Dr Alison Ronan; and readings by actor Maxine Peake from ‘The Last Weapon’ by Theodora Wilson Wilson.
