Homage to Catalonia, George Orwell’s book about his experiences as an ILP volunteer at the Spanish Civil War, has been dramatised on Radio 4 over the last few weeks.
Orwell’s account of his period fighting alongside POUM, the ILP’s sister party in Spain, was broadcast in two episodes on successive Sunday afternoons as part of the BBC’s ‘The Real George Orwell’ season, and will remain available online via iPlayer until 11 February.
The first episode was broadcast on Sunday 27 January and repeated on Saturday 2 February at 21:00. The second episode was on Sunday 3 February at 15:00.
Other programmes in the Orwell season include Down and Out in Paris and London, Animal Farm and Biographical Dramas, four plays based on periods in Orwell’s life.
